Hugh Coltman serves up a New Orleans-inspired musical gumbo
Issued on: Modified:
From Mardi Gras and marching bands, to second line parades and the historic Faubourg Treme, the rich cultural heritage of New Orleans provided the inspiration for Hugh Coltman’s latest album "Who’s Happy?" The France-based, British singer-songwriter captured the essence of the Big Easy - the birthplace of jazz - for the new disc, which was recorded in just six days with local, veteran musicians.
He talks to France 24’s Richelle Harrison Plesse about soaking up the Crescent City’s sights and sounds, and also treats us to an acoustic performance of his track “Hand Me Downs”.
