The maths teacher holding French lawmakers to account
Can one citizen defend the interests of society at large? That's certainly what Frenchman Hervé Lebreton is trying to do. The maths teacher has already helped reveal a scandal: a €150 million fund at the disposal of French MPs and senators to finance projects without any kind of supervision. Thanks to Lebreton's persistence, the law has been changed: the fund has disappeared and there are now more controls over how lawmakers are reimbursed for their expenses. FRANCE 24's team went to meet him.
