Brian Jackson: One of the forefathers of socially-conscious rap

He helped pen, record and perform some of the most cherished albums of 1970s America with US jazz and soul legend Gil Scott-Heron. After a decade working together he went on to make music with the likes of Earth, Wind & Fire, Stevie Wonder and Roy Ayers. His tunes have been sampled by 2Pac, Kanye West and Common to name a few. He's in Paris for a rare concert as part of the Paris New York Heritage Festival. Brian Jackson speaks to Eve Jackson.
