Parity on the frontline: U.N. seeks to boost number of female peacekeepers

In this special edition, Annette Young heads to Cyprus, an island still divided between its Greek and Turkish communities. Helping to keep the peace in this long-forgotten conflict are U.N. troops so we take a look at how women are taking an increasing role in peacekeeping missions across the world. In Nicosia, we also meet Elizabeth Spehar, one of the few women currently leading a peacekeeping mission who talks about how to get contributing nations to play their part too in sending more women.

"The 51 Percent" will be taking a break over the European summer but will be back with a brand new series in early September.
