Angoulême Film Festival: Haitian cinema in the spotlight
It’s become an annual celebration of filmmaking à la française: every August the city of Angoulême in the south west of France is the place to be for French-language cinema. Featuring productions from Canada, Switzerland and Tunisia, this year’s festival celebrates Haitian cinema with a selection of the island’s recent output.
Haitian actor and jury-member Jimmy Jean-Louis tells us about taking his career from Europe to the United States, where he starred in the NBC series “Heroes”, and explains why Haitian filmmaking has a bright future.
