FRANCE 24 marks one year since launching Spanish channel
Date created : Latest update :
A year ago, FRANCE 24’s Spanish channel began broadcasting live from the Colombian capital Bogota. A diverse mix of Spanish-language journalists from across the world now provides news coverage to 7 million homes in 13 countries.
It took more than six months to build the newsroom and studios in Bogota and required an intensive period of journalist training – with some help from colleagues at FRANCE 24’s French, English and Arabic services.
Then the big day – September 26, 2017 – finally arrived. FRANCE 24 Spanish hit the airwaves, broadcasting in a language spoken by more than 350 million people across the world.
Today the channel provides news programmes and long-format reports offering more context and in-depth analysis to viewers.
There is also a Spanish-language version of the FRANCE 24 website.
