The Land of the Rising Sun comes to La République
France and Japan are celebrating 160 years of diplomatic ties with a cultural season of the very best of Japanese art, architecture, performance and cinema. Olivia Salazar-Winspear sits down with photographer Hiroshi Sugimoto, who's brought his traditional black and white photography to the Palace of Versailles; he tells us how he's resurrected some ghostly figures for this latest exhibition.
We also take a look at the work of superstar architect Tadao Ando, as the Pompidou centre celebrates the constructions of the Pritzker prize-winning designer.
And the Museum of Decorative Arts in Paris has brought together 150 years' worth of inspiring objects, which tell the story of Japanese craftsmanship through textiles, ceramics and graphic design.
