'Age old cities' exhibition: 'It's part of our history that's been destroyed'

Feel like wandering through the ancient city of Palmyra in Syria? Or ambling around Aleppo? Or why not visit Mosul's Al Nouri Mosque in Iraq? Ancient cities, badly destroyed in recent years by the Islamic State group, are now part of a virtual reality exhibition here in Paris.

Aurélie Clemente-Ruiz, the curator of the show currently on at the Arab World Institute, gives us her perspective on the importance of architectural heritage. She tells us that the aim is to let people visit these sites as they once were. There is also a section in 3D where the ancient buildings stand tall again. "It's part of our own history that has been destroyed and we need to rebuild part of it", she told FRANCE 24.
