Climate change is melting the French Alps
Issued on: Modified:
Climate change is causing glaciers in the French Alps to melt at an unprecedented rate, as well as causing dangerous rockslides. FRANCE 24's Catherine Norris-Trent and Sylvain Rousseau report.
Disappearing glaciers have become a symbol of global warming, but scientists are also worried about a much less visible threat: the warming of the permafrost, frozen ground and ice which glues rock together. As it’s heating up, huge chunks of mountains are being dislodged.
