Artists celebrate 70th anniversary of Universal Declaration of Human Rights
Issued on: Modified:
70 years ago, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was signed in Paris. Celebrations are being held at the Palais de Chaillot, the very place where that fundamental text was signed. France 24's Florence Villeminot talks to American contemporary dance choreographer Carolyn Carlson about her creation for the tribute.
Meanwhile, Matthias Leridon, co-president of the NGO African Artists for Development, talks about the "Refugees on the Move" programme, which links contemporary art and local development initiatives. Both say that today's artists have a key role to play in defending human rights.
