Does the Yellow Vest movement have global reach?
How important is the Yellow Vest movement? Has it lifted the lid on bubbling discontent across Western societies - with ordinary people believing the system no longer works for them? Protests have now cropped up as far afield as Canada, as well as in Belgium, the Netherlands and the UK. In Egypt, authorities have restricted the sale of the vests themselves, in a bid to stop copycat protesters.
So does this movement have global reach? Or is it instead fading away? Government officials say only 2,000 people turned out on the streets of Paris on Saturday, compared with 8,000 the week before. To get the big picture, we sat down with journalist Agnès Poirier.
