Keira Knightley on Colette: 'I think very often our voices aren't heard'
Date created : Latest update :
Keira Knightley has made a name for herself playing esteemed literary heroines, from Tolstoy's Anna Karenina to Austen's Elizabeth Bennet. In fact, the British actress has a flair for making period drama feel utterly contemporary and has racked up two Academy Award nominations along the way. Her latest role sees her embody the turn-of-the century trailblazer "Colette", in a new biopic of the French avant-garde author.
She sat down with France 24’s Olivia Salazar-Winspear to talk about pushing female voices to the fore and why Disney films are a mixed bag when it comes to feminism.
