Deutsche Bank and Commerzbank open merger talks

After months of speculation, Germany's two biggest banks, Deutsche Bank and Commerzbank, have confirmed they have opened talks on a possible merger. The combination would create the eurozone's second-largest lender with combined assets of €1.8 trillion, but unions are worried it would lead to tens of thousands of job cuts.
