A different note: Celebrating the work of women composers
Issued on: Modified:
Of the 1,400-plus classical music concerts held across the globe in the last year, only 76 included a piece composed by a woman. That's right, just 76. In this special edition, we head to the Présences Féminines music festival in the southern French city of Toulon that celebrates the work of women composers. It is as much a journey of discovery for the artists themselves as it is for the audience, as they perform a collection of beautiful but lesser-known works.
