The joy of missing out: Why we should learn to be content with what we have

We shouldn't have to strive for more and more, but learn to be content with what we have. That's the view of Danish psychologist Svend Brinkmann, who says our current mode of thinking has only been in place for the last 100 years or so - since our consumerist society has taken hold - and that it hasn't always been like that. He says life nowadays makes us feel inadequate and miserable. Brinkmann is the author of "The Joy of Missing Out: The Art of Self-Restraint in an Age of Excess".
