Sri Lanka attacks: Why target minority Christian community?

What's the point of targeting Sri Lanka's Christian minority? There's sadly a long history of suicide attacks in the country's past, but the coordinated bloodbath on Easter Sunday is unprecedented. It's been ten years since the country has seen this scale of violence, since a brutal civil war ended with the crushing of Tamil separatists. How will Sri Lanka react now?
