Synagogue that survived Mosul battle now faces reconstruction challenge

Nearly two years after Iraqi forces liberated Mosul from the grip of the Islamic State group, much of the Old City lies in ruins. FRANCE 24 reports from a Jewish synagogue that survived the battle.


Much of Mosul’s old city is still in ruins almost two years after Iraqi forces freed the city from the grip of the Islamic State group.

Reconstruction efforts have been slow amid limited funding and widespread allegations of corruption. The city’s religious and cultural heritage sites are also suffering from neglect.

FRANCE 24 visited one Jewish synagogue that has survived the battle for Mosul.
