It took a decade of preparation, hundreds of scientists and a bit of good luck for astronomers to catch the first ever glimpse of a black hole. Jessica Dempsey was among the 200 scientists on the team. She spoke to FRANCE 24 about why it's so hard to capture an image of a black hole, what happens if you fall into one, and why she thinks it looks like the Eye of Sauron from Lord of the Rings.
