Sevilla announce Caparros ending third stint as coach
Sevilla announced on Wednesday Joaquin Caparros would not be in charge next season, although they said he was staying at the club.
"Joaquin Caparros will remain with Sevilla FC next season; however, it will not be as the first-team coach," the club said in a statement on their website.
"The manager had a meeting today in Tanzania with the president, Jose Castro, and the sporting director, Monchi, in which his future was laid out, a future which will continue his links with the club.
"The club hopes to announce the new manager in the coming days," the statement added
After returning to the club for a third stint in charge in March, Caparros, who is 63, announced in April he was suffering from chronic leukaemia.
Sevilla finished sixth in La Liga to qualify for the Europa League, missing out on a Champions League place by two points after a shaky end to an inconsistent season.
Caparros, who managed Sevilla from 2000 to 2005 and returned as a caretaker for the first time in March 2018, will coach his last game in a friendly against Tanzanian club Simba SC in Dar-es-Salam on Thursday.
