Guillaume Klossa: 'We need an election to choose the head of the European Commission'
In part two of our programme, we get a French point of view on the big European news of the moment – including the controversial nomination of Germany's defence minister as president of the European Commission. We speak to Guillaume Klossa, founder of the EuropaNova think tank and a former "sherpa" to the European Council.
Guillaume Klossa spends a lot of time working on and thinking about Europe. He’s a former "sherpa" to the European Council. He's also the founder of the EuropaNova think tank, as well as Civico Europa – an association that wants to "to spur a revival of the European project". He’s also been active in hearing from Europeans themselves, organising the biggest ever multilingual and transnational citizen consultation under the banner WeEuropeans.eu.
He spoke to Catherine Nicholson about the ongoing controversy over the EU leaders' picks for the top jobs, saying "we need a European election" to choose the head of the European Commission.
