Apple begins appeal of €13 billion EU tax ruling

Hearings are taking place in Luxembourg in an appeal by Apple and the Irish government against a European Commission ruling, which ordered the iPhone maker to repay €13 billion in tax. Both Apple and Dublin disagree with the 2016 Commission decision which found that tax arrangements given to the company amounted to illegal state aid. Also today, talks continue between unions and management at General Motors as a strike by around 49,000 workers enters its second day.
