Grant Holloway of the United States won the men's 110 metres hurdles title in Doha on Wednesday in a dramatic final that saw 2017 winner Omar McLeod fall at the final hurdle.

The 22-year-old American -- the world leader this season -- timed 13.10 seconds having led from the start.

Sergey Shubenkov, world champion in 2015, took silver in 13.15sec whilst Frenchman Pascal Martinot-Lagarde finished third in 13.18sec.

McLeod, also the Olympic champion, struggled from the start as Holloway motored out of the blocks.

The 25-year-old Jamaican -- bidding to become the first hurdler since Allen Johnson in 2001/03 to defend the title successfully -- clattered a couple early on but still gained on Holloway.

He but just when it appeared he could pass the American, he struck the penultimate hurdle and off balance clattered into the last, crashing to the floor.

He picked himself up and walked over the line as a jubilant Holloway set off on his celebratory lap.
