Six people have gone on trial in Paris on suspicion of misappropriating part of the proceeds from arms deals to Pakistan. They include three former government aides who served under former conservative French PM Edouard Balladur. The trial is linked to a suicide attack in Karachi which saw 11 French engineers killed in 2002. Balladur himself will stand trial before a separate court.
