While the current global trend is all about balancing professional performance and personal wellbeing, the average French office isn't a happy place. Stress, depression, burnout syndrome – far from the myth of a "superior" French work/life balance, the country has become a leader in work-related health issues.
In 2016, some 10,000 cases of psychiatric breakdown were recognised as professional ailments – that's 50 times more than just four years earlier, and at a cost of €230 million for France's health service.
Now a number of French companies have started to adjust their management style: less hierarchy, more flexibility and autonomy. We look into the new trend of "liberated companies".
