Istanbul attack: A turning point for Turkey in the fight against IS group? (part 2)
Issued on:
This time the target was Istanbul, in the heart of the historic Sultanahmet quarter between the Blue Mosque and the Hagia Sofia. Initial reports show 11 dead, of which 8 German nationals, while the Turkish PM claims the suicide bomber was an IS group jihadist. Erdogan claims this should dispel any doubts of his resolve in the fight against ISIS. But just how is this fight going in a nation with 2 million refugees that finds itself in an asymmetrical battle with jihadists, Assad and the Kurds?
