Abdullah Abdullah claims victory in Afghan presidential election
Issued on: Modified:
Our guest is Abdullah Abdullah, Chief Executive Officer of Afghanistan and presidential candidate, who ran in the first round of the elections on September 28. The results have still not been published and are now expected on November 7. Abdullah claims victory in the first round, saying "earlier indications are that we have more votes". But he denounces irregularities in the vote, amid widespread reports of fraud. "Irregularities have taken place, those have been documented, we have provided evidence (...) all those things which we have claimed will be proven”, he told FRANCE 24.
Afghanistan's Chief Executive Officer also discusses the recent US peace negotiations with the Taliban - discussions from which the Afghan government was excluded.
