Battle for our data: European leaders call for digital sovereignty


Europe is handing over its sovereignty to Silicon Valley and China. That stark warning this week came from none other than Germany's chancellor. The Information Age we live in means it's no longer about who makes steel or controls oil, but who has got your data. Angela Merkel's got reason to worry. Companies like Volkswagen, plus her own interior ministry store their information on cloud computing systems run by the likes of Microsoft and Amazon. Could that become a national security risk in the long term?
