Music show: Jordi Savall, a citizen of the world and protector of local cultures

Most people know Jordi Savall for his repertoire of medieval, Renaissance and Baroque music. But the Catalan conductor and composer also likes to venture into Classical and Romantic periods. Currently, his 30-year-old ensemble, "Le Concert des Nations", is taking on all nine of Beethoven’s symphonies while trying to stay as close as possible to the original score and philosophy. He tells FRANCE 24’s Florence Villeminot about this ambitious project and why, as the world becomes increasingly global, it’s important to protect local languages and cultures.
