Modern Slavery: Syrian artist Sara Shamma's portraits of pain

Today's Perspective guest was born and raised in Syria, where she graduated in Fine Arts from the University of Damascus, before setting up her easel in London three years ago. Artist Sara Shamma has used various mediums in her career, ranging from ballpoint pen to gouache, to create powerful portraits. Her latest exhibition, "Modern Slavery", is currently on show at The Arcade at King’s College London. We spoke to her about the conflict in her homeland and the effect it’s had on the art scene there.
