Issued on: Modified:
With movies competing for Best International Feature, Best Live Action Short Film and Best Animated Feature at the 92nd Academy Awards, French talent is currently the toast of Hollywood. Our reporters catch up with some of the directors leading the charge in Los Angeles.
We also look south to Clermont-Ferrand, home to the world’s largest short film festival. All of the 161 films competing in the French city this year come in at under 59 minutes.
Meanwhile, director Guy Ritchie returns to his roots for his latest action comedy "The Gentlemen", which drops a star-studded cast into London’s criminal underworld of gangsters, drug deals and wicked one-liners.
And Portugal's photogenic capital is in the spotlight at Paris's Forum des Images, with a season of films shot in Lisbon. The selection takes in everything from the first Portuguese language talkies to experimental contemporary features from filmmakers both local and foreign.
