Human rights: Who will be the next laureate of the EU's Sakharov Prize?
In this debate we’re shining a light on human rights defenders, as the European Parliament prepares to vote on its highest human rights award, the Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought. Each year, MEPs nominate and then choose their winner from among individuals who they believe have made an "exceptional" contribution to the fight for human rights anywhere in the world. We find out more about some of this year’s nominees, and ask whether being put up for the prize makes a difference to their causes.
