Italian mafia take advantage of Covid-19 crisis

As Italy starts to feel the catastrophic impact of the coronavirus crisis and resulting lockdown on its economy, organised crime mobs are taking advantage of the situation to extend their hold in the country. Their strategy is twofold: buying up businesses on the verge of bankruptcy, in order to launder money; and winning over social support by handing out aid and loans to struggling families.
