DR Congo: President Joseph Kabila will not run in presidential elections

After years of speculation, President Joseph Kabila has said he will not run for a third term in DR Congo’s presidential elections in December. Instead, former interior minister Emmanuel Ramazani Shadary will represent the ruling coalition. Also, concerns are growing about a crackdown on opposition figures in Zimbabwe in the wake of last week’s disputed presidential election. And in Burkina Faso, one of the country’s most important natural water reservoirs is drying up due to climate change.
