Liberia's George Weah announces free education at public universities
There were celebrations at the University of Liberia on Wednesday after President George Weah announced free education at public universities. Weah, who took office in January, says he wants to make Liberia an example to other African nations. The scarcity of good schools has complicated the tackling of a scandal at an academy where a founding staff member is accused of raping several children. The MTM academy had been due to be shut down, but parents took to the streets demanding it stay open.
