Paris Fashion Stories, Episode 4: Parisians
Issued on: Modified:
Ready-to-wear, summer 2019: All hail liberated women! For the first time, Paris has named a street after a female fashion designer: Sonia Rykiel.
Sonia Rykiel, the late fashion icon and witness to France's May 1968 movement, has now been immortalised in the French capital with a street named after her. To mark the occasion, the artistic director of the Rykiel label, Julie de Libran, has created a collection that takes inspiration from mesh shopping bags. Oversized jumpers and decadent fringing are the order of the day.
Meanwhile, Cecilia Bönström, artistic director of Zadig & Voltaire, is also a fan of nonchalant chic. Her collection focuses on the intersection between masculine and feminine – high heels are out, but dresses and flats are definitely in.
