Paris Fashion Stories, Episode 1: New feminism
Ready-to-wear, autumn-winter 2019/2020: Maria Grazia Chiuri, creative director at Dior, is a self-proclaimed "new feminist". For this latest collection she pays homage to Dior's sartorial codes, to Christian Dior's love of the UK, and to female power.
The guest of honour in this episode is author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. Maria Grazia Chiuri set her show against a backdrop covered in a reimagined alphabet book by Italian feminist artist Tomaso Binga.
Young designer Marine Serre, meanwhile, chose to hold her show in a Paris wine cellar. Her show feels deliberately radical, as she celebrates women's ability to change the world we live in. Both designers fight for gender equality, but with decidedly different methods.
