Putin critic Navalny receives suspended sentence in fraud trial

He has been a vocal critic of Vladimir Putin and drew tens of thousands of demonstrators onto the streets in 2011 to protest corruption in the ruling United Russia party. Today, Alexei Navalny was handed down a suspended sentence in an embezzlement case while his brother Oleg was sent to jail for 3.5 years. Navalny later joined protesters near the Kremlin in defiance of his house arrest and was briefly detained by police. We take a look at how the day's events played out on social media.
