'The Islamic State group has won': Legal black hole for suspected jihadists in Syria
Issued on: Modified:
Our Perspective guest is investigative reporter Allan Kaval, who obtained access to the internment camps of suspected Islamic State group fighters in northern Syria. Kaval tells us about the inhumane conditions in the prison and about the men and boys in it, including an 18-year-old Frenchman who was brought to the war in Syria by his parents when he was just 12. Amid this legal black hole, Kaval says that by making us doubt in the ability of our institutions and our justice system, the Islamic State group extremists have won a key battle.
