Swiss reject new anti-immigration referendum

Switzerland has rejected a new referendum proposal that would have brought immigration down to as little as 17,000 per year. This comes after a previous vote earlier in the year that called for an end to open-borders migration.

Elsewhere, former Canadian Governor General Michaëlle Jean has been elected new head of the International Organisation of Francophone Countries.
