Here there are these little thermal baths, they are jewels because they were decorated after the earthquake of 62 AD so they still have decorations that are in very good conditionPompeii was a prosperous town close to Naples until pyroclastic waves from neighbouring Mount Vesuvius wiped out the entire estimated population of 11,000 people in 79AD.The eruption buried inhabitants and objects alike in volcanic ash, leaving many fossillised in the position they were in on the fateful day.The restoration is part of an exhibition called 'Myth and Nature, from Greece to Pompeii', which describes the ancient town's cultural background.15. SOUNDBITE (Italian) Paolo Giulierini, Director of National Archaeological Museum:"In this first part of the exhibit, you can follow the paths that we call the mythological links between man and nature in the Greek world first, and then in the Roman world, particularly referring to a couple key divinities, such as Demeter, Goddess of the Harvest, The exhibition 'Myth and Nature, from Greece to Pompeii' runs until the 15th of June.
