Covid-19: South Africa halts AstraZeneca vaccinations

South Africa will start its immunisation campaign with Johnson & Johnson's Covid-19 vaccine after data showed AstraZeneca's shot offered minimal protection against mild to moderate illness from the dominant local virus variant. Also, delayed elections leave Somalia facing a power vacuum after President Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed's term expired with no clear succession plan. And in Sudan, new violence revives old fears. Many displaced people have started returning to their homes in Darfur, but recent attacks in the region have led them to question their choice.
