9/11 commemorations, November 2015 Paris attacks trial, Belmondo remembered
Issued on:
We are discussing 9/11, the terror attacks that changed the world and all our lives. We head to New York, where François Picard describes the mood on the eve of the 20th anniversary of the atrocities that claimed some 3,000 lives.
Here in Paris, the trial opened this week of the surviving and alleged members of the terror cell that attacked the French capital in November 2015, killing 130 people. Surivivors and bereaved families have been subjected to the pontifications in the dock of Salah Abdeslam. The prime suspect, a self-confessed soldier of the Islamic State group, had discarded his suicide vest undetonated on that fateful night and was hunted down in Brussels four months later.
France and the world of cinema said "adieu" this week to Jean-Paul Belmondo. The legendary actor, star of over 80 movies, passed away at the age of 88. Emmanuel Macron, a big fan, described him as "one of us." Belmondo burst onto the scene in the 1960 film by Jean-Luc Godard, "À bout de souffle" or "Breathless".
Produced by Alessandro Xenos, Juliette Laurain and Laura Burloux.
