There has been fighting on and off during the weekend in Juba, the South Sudan capitalIt erupted when troops loyal to the President Salva Kiir demanded to search vehicles of troops loyal to the Vice President Riek Machar. Scores of people have been killed threatening a peace deal. Violence over the weekend took place right near the presidential palace as the President and Vice President held a joint press conference.The fears are of renewed instability just as the world's youngest country marks its five years of independence. Civil war broke out in 2013 when Kirr accused Machar of plotting a coup.A peace deal was agreed last year ... The UN Security Council meeting in emergency closed session called for for additional peacekeepers... and expressed shock and outrage at attacks on UN compounds.SONORE Koro Besho "The members of the Security Council condemned in the strongest terms the escalation of fighting in Juba. The members of the Security Council stressed that attacks against civilians and UN premises and personnel may constitute war crimes"The United States has called for immediate end to fighting and ordered its personnel out of the country.Regional leaders also urge Kiir and Machar to ensure order .. a special summit wll be held this Monday in Nairobi.The goal: to urge former rivals Kiir and Machar to stay true to a unity government and head off a return to all out civil war.
