France sends ministers to quell Guiana crisis

The French government sent a ministerial mission to French Guiana Thursday as the former colony entered a fourth day of general strikes over high crime rates, spiralling unemployment and the lack of public services. The French territory, which sits on the northeast tip of South America, has been rocked by protests that have halted flights, disrupted a rocket launch and sparked travel warnings since late last month.
