Party of Hope loses steam ahead of Japanese election

The Constitutional Democratic Party has emerged as the dark horse in Japan’s parliamentary elections on Sunday. All eyes were initially on the opposition Party of Hope, led by Yuriko Koike who shook up Japanese politics when in the summer of 2016 she became the first female governor of Tokyo. Although one of the biggest opposition movements to emerge since the campaign began, the Party of Hope has since lost steam. FRANCE 24's Yuka Royer and Julie Dungelhoeff report from Japan.
