Tunisia bans Emirates Airlines flights from landing in its territory

Tunisia on Sunday suspended Emirates Airlines flights after a public outcry over security measures in the United Arab Emirates targeting women from the North African country. The underlying feeling of people protesting outside the embassy of United Arab Emirates (UAE) in Tunis was that the decision to ban Tunisian women from entering the country was discriminatory and humiliating. Protestors have asked why only Tunisian women are banned from entering the UAE and have called the decision “racist”. The airline has said that the ban was made after serious threats of terrorist attacks. Both countries, UAE and Tunisia, have called for calm.
