Thousands demonstrate in Togo against President Gnassingbe
Issued on: Modified:
Thousands of protesters took to the streets again on Saturday chanting slogans calling for a return to the 1992 constitution and the immediate departure of the head of state, President Faure Gnassingbe. The violent repression of a demonstration last Thursday, which left more than a dozen people injured and resulted in 15 arrests, didn’t deter protesters in Lome, Togo’s capital. Saturday's anti-government demonstration recorded an even bigger turnout.
