Probe ordered after top Macron security official hits protester

A French parliamentary commission will hold an inquiry into an incident involving an aide to French President Emmanuel Macron who was filmed striking a protester on May 1, it was announced Thursday evening.Alexandre Benalla, one of the French leader’s top security officers, was at the centre of an escalating scandal for Macron on Thursday after being filmed assaulting a street protester during a May Day demonstration in central Paris.
