Surviving Algerian Harkis appeal for full recognition from France

Tuesday marks National Harki Recognition Day in France, a day that commemorates the Algerians who joined the French Army during Algeria's war for independence.Last week, French President Emmanuel Macron announced that 25 Harkis would receive military honours.But the 8,000 surviving Harkis and their families are still hoping for full recognition of the role they played during the war and the suffering they endured when they arrived in France after Algeria became independent.France 24’s Claire Paccalin and Tahar Hani report from Montpellier, France, where they met with a Harki family.
