Leaderless 'yellow vest' protests present opportunity for France's opposition
Date created : Latest update :
Thousands of French protesters hit out at higher fuel taxes and President Emmanuel Macron's economic policies in demonstrations across motorways on Saturday, sparking major logjams and several accidents, including a fatality at one road blockade. The protests in Paris were unusual, FRANCE 24's Claire Paccalin explains. Unlike typical demonstrations in the capital, these had no official leaders or organisations and no defined route through the capital. About a dozen small protests with 50-100 people took place at various locations throughout the city.
